The Sendai Convention Bureau had suspended the recruitment of international convention volunteers last year and the year before last due to the COVID-19 situation, but this year we resumed the recruitment for the first time in three years, and we received many applications from motivated students.
On Saturday, July 16, 2022, our convention staff held the “2022 Sendai Convention Student Supporter Information Session” for those students who applied, at the Sendai City Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises Activation Center.
Despite heavy rain on the day of the briefing, about 30 students gathered to learn about international conferences and the role of language volunteers.
While the future of the 7th wave of COVID-19 in Japan remains to be seen, we hope to create opportunities to connect motivated students with international conference participants. Together with our volunteer members who have been registered since before last year, we will continue to support the international conferences held in Sendai.
