On Saturday, November 25, 2023, the “2023 International Conference Volunteer Symposium” was held in the Exchange Experience Hall of Sendai Ryokusaikan Visitor Center. In the first session, Hasekura Tsunenaga of the “Date Bushotai”, Sendai’s hospitality welcome group of samurai and historical characters, delivered a keynote lecture titled “Lord Date Masamune and Castle Town Sendai” and conducted a workshop using an old map of Sendai.
In the second session, English was used for a free discussion on topics related to Sendai that convention participants from abroad might ask about. Two foreign staff members belonging to the Sendai Tourism, Convention and International Association served as facilitators and spoke with everyone in English.
Participants commented that they were satisfied to be able to see both an old map and current locations with explanations, that it was good to learn phrases that can be used in Sendai guidance and hospitality, and that it was refreshing for native Japanese speakers to work in a group using English, and that they made many discoveries. The workshop was very well received by the participants.
Thank you very much for your participation and support.
