On Wednesday, December 6, 2023, the Sendai Convention Bureau exhibited at the [JNTO Incentive Travel Business Meeting (Taiwan)] hosted by JNTO at the Regent Taipei hotel in Taipei, Taiwan. The number of registered participants in the business matching meeting was 29 buyers and 35 sellers, and the Sendai booth handled a total of 9 business meetings. Before the business matching meeting session, each seller gave a 2-minute PR presentation, and our Chinese-speaking staff member delivered Sendai’s presentation.
The Sendai Convention Bureau (officially the MICE Promotion Section of the Sendai Tourism, Convention and International Association (SenTIA)) decided to exhibit in Taiwan, one of Sendai’s target destinations for incentive travel, in order to understand the current status of the local MICE “I” (incentive) market, and introduced the association’s subsidies and the attractions of Sendai City.
We received many high evaluations from visitors, such as “It was good to meet the points of contact and people in charge as we need regular information exchange with stakeholders in Sendai and Tohoku,” and “We would like to cooperate with Sendai to provide more attractive contents for our clients and handle their various needs.” On the other hand, we heard from buyers about areas for improvement regarding hurdles such as “securing seats on buses and airplanes” and “lack of venues that can accommodate large groups.”
Our association will continue its efforts to attract more incentive travel to Sendai.
